Maris Young

I’m Maris, like “Marissa” but without the “uh” at the end. As a mother of two, writer and former podcast host, I’ve spent countless hours studying the physical, emotional and spiritual shifts that pregnancy and postpartum set in motion. I want to share the insight I’ve collected over the years so that other women can make more informed decisions about their own care. I hope to be a touchstone in the river, a loving presence that people can turn to for resourcing, guidance and support as they find their own footing on the banks of motherhood.
Fun Facts
I gave birth to my first child at a birth center. And my second child was a surprise breech baby born during a planned home birth!
I speak Spanish and French!
I love learning! I’m currently studying: Breathwork • Somatic Healing • Emotional Embodiment • Narrative Therapy • Herbalism • Yin Yoga

You matter.
Doula
Childbearing doesn’t have to be overwhelming. If you’re planning to conceive soon, currently pregnant or early postpartum, you deserve support.
Writer
I publish a weekly-ish column called In All Honesty over on Substack. It’s a somatic exploration of what it means to me to walk in integrity. If you’re into nervous system work, somatics, embodiment and narrative, come join the community.
Speaker
I am passionate about reproductive justice and the importance of culturally compassionate care within communities of color. If your virtual or in-person event is centered around related themes, I’m interested in presenting.
