Ashleigh’s comment on @elizabeth_gilbert_writer’s post stopped me in my tracks, and I knew immediately that I wanted to chat with her on the podcast. So, in this episode, Ashleigh reflects on how she began tirelessly seeking praise in order to feel valued as a child and how that led down a path of taking on more and more responsibilities as Martyrmom. Without realizing it, Ashleigh was signing herself up to do things in the most challenging way possible, and before long, she felt like she was struggling to tend to everything on her plate. But it wasn’t until her marriage reached a crossroads that she was forced to reckon with her own emotional needs. As she discovered writing as a form of healing, Ashleigh also started to face her own vulnerability and self judgment.
Press play to listen to Ashleigh’s thought provoking journey of doing the things she most judged other women for doing set her on the path of liberating the Martyrmom, loving herself better & dropping the façades.

AShleigh Renard on Ep. 008 of Young honest mother: the podcast
“The last few years have been a process of taking off those roles one by one and really feeling into what’s there to inform me about who I thought I was, who I really am, and the kinds of things I want to model for my children.”
